Library information
The library welcomes you to Bodø University College, and we hope that you during your studies will learn to appreciate the city, the college and of course the Library.
The new library is rated amongst the best in Norway! We provide a good range of services, and we hope you will use our services during your studies in Bodø.
The physical collection
Consists of about 175.000 volumes of books, periodicals and other materials. You can browse the physical collection through our catalogue BIBSYS, and find out if we have the material you're looking for or not. Don't worry if you do not find what you are looking for.
BIBSYS covers the collections for all universities, colleges, scientific colleges and a lot of other institutions in Norway, and you have the possibility to take your search to the catalogues of all these libraries at the same time if you want. If you then find what you're looking for, just press the button marked "Order loan or article copy", fill out the form, and press the button "Send". Your order will be received at the Library immediately and we will hande it as quickly as possible. The book will be ordered from another library, and will be available within 5 - 10 days.

The Virtual Library
You will find The Virtual or Electronic library through the Library's website. Here you will find relevant databases for the subject you're studying. You can also browse more general databases for a wanted subject, or you can search for a journal among more than 9.000 periodicals in full text. Some of the periodicals you will find also in printed form. You will also find databases for information within some fields, e.g. fisheries, social sciences and economic topics, and Encyclopedia Britannica in full text.
The Virtual Library also includes collections of useful internet-links to different topics within the subjects you can study at Bodø University College.
The Virtual Library has access from all computers at the college, including the Library, the PC-labs, computers at offices and so on. You can choose whether you will read the full text documents on the screen or print it out. If you want to print a document, you have to pay a fee (same price as if you want to copy a printed article).
If you want access to the databases and the full-text journals from your PC at home, you have to contact the library, and we will give you passwords if you're a student or employed at the college.
If you have problems with using the electronic resources or the catalogue, don't hesitate to contact the library, and we'll help you.
Opening hours
The physical collections are open from 08.00 in the morning till 19.00 in the evening. There will be a librarian to help you during all opening hours. Opening hours are reduced during summer, Christmas and Easter.
The Virtual library is open all days and all nights from all computers at the college.
Location
This information is for students at the main campus of the college at Mørkved, and the library here (The Main Library). The Library is located by the front entrance.
In Mo I Rana, you will find the library on the ground floor, facing the main street.
At Stokmarknes, the library is situated on the ground floor, with an entrance from the main hall.
